My Travel Teddy is the perfect travel partner to explore the world, but consider travelling through another dimension - time. It can be very difficult for students to imagine a time before they were born; yet, that is exactly what teachers expect of them when studying Pioneers, First Nations or Medieval Times. Using My Travel Teddy students can dress up their bear in a costume of the era and pretend to send it back in time. What would they include on this journey? What questions would they ask people of the past? What lessons could we learn from them? What could they learn from us? With My Travel Teddy as a time-traveller we now have a connection to the past.

So now My Travel Teddy's journal becomes historical fiction. Add a few interesting characters, some realistic items from the era, and the students can make connections to the past.

There's an even more meaningful way to make connections to the past, and that's because the teddy bear itself has such an interesting history, dating back to 1902. That means in spite of the many technological differences that separate children today from previous generations, there is still the teddy bear. Just as a student can write about life today, we can also reach out and invite senior citizens to write or talk about their lives through the eyes of teddy bears they may have owned and loved.
